Sarah Annie Mullany {Swales}

In 1881, there is a Sarah Swails, age 32 (born c.1849), a widow, with two sons, Alfred, 9 (C.1871), and Frank, 7 (C.1874). I suspect that this is this Sarah, and that Alfred is the Alfred Easterby Swales, who claims to have been born in 1868 in Kansas City. Frank could be another Franklin Easterby Swales. In 1920, there's a Frank Swales in Manhattan, claiming to have been born in MO.
