 Her name may have been Rosetta, but most sources have it as Rosette.
 Some papers show died 23 Nov 1879.
 Family legend says born in Orwell, but clearly she is from Herkimer,
 backed up by LDS records for her and her mother.

 Same LDS record shows Rosette married to Charles A. Stevens.

 Following is a transcription of Rosette's last will & testament, complete with
 the original layout and errors:

			SURROGATE'S COURT
In the Matter of Proving the Last Will and Testament
             of
Rosette Stearns
late of Orwell               DECEASED.
Oswego County, ss:
	Geo. H. Woodbury and
	R. N. Sawyer, being first duly sworn, in open Court, upon their several corporeal
oaths, each for himself, doth depose and say, that they are subscribed witnesses to the
last Will and Testament of Rosette Stearns
late of the Town of Orwell in the county of Oswego, and State of New York, deceased.
And these deponents do further say that the said Rosette Stearns deceased, did, in the presence
of each of these deponents, subscribe his name at the end of the instrument in writing, which is now here shown to these deponents, and which
purports to be the last Will and Testament
of the said deceased, and which bears date on the 31 day of Oct one thousand eight
hundred and seventy nine.  That the said deceased did at the time of the subscribing her name to the said instrument as aforesaid,
declare the same to be her last Will and Testament;  and these deponents did thereupon subscribe their
own respective names at the end of said instrument, as attesting witnesses to the execution thereof, each at the request of the said deceased, and
in her presence and in the presence of each other.  That the said deceased, at the time of so subscribing her name to said instrument as
aforesaid, and publishing said instrument as aforesaid, was upwards of twenty-one years of age, and a citizen of the United States; that he
appeared to be, and deponents believe he was of sound mind, memory and understanding, and not under an restraint, ans as deponents
verily believe in all respects competent to devise real estate; that each of these deponents saw the other sign her name to said instrument in
the presence of the said deceased.

       It appearing upon the proofs duly taken in respect to the Last Will and Testament
of Rosette Stearns late of the Town of Orwell in the County of Oswego,
and State of New York, deceased, that the said Will was duly executed, and that the said Rosette Stearns
at the time she executed the same, was in all respects competent to devise real estate, and not under restraint, the said last Will and
Testament and the proofs and examinations are hereby recorded, signed and certified by me,
pursuant to the provisions of the Revised Statutes, this 5th day of Jan'y 1880

LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF

Rosette Stearns  DECEASED.

Be it Remembered, That heretofore, to wit, on the 20th day of Dec. in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and 79,  Robert N. Sawyer, Executor named
in the LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT of Rosette Stearns
late of the Town of Orwell in the County of Orwell deceased, appeared in
open Court, before the Surrogate of the County of Orwell and made application to have the said LAST WILL AND
TESTAMENT which relates to both real and Personal Estate proved; and on such application,
the said Surrogate did ascertain by satisfactory evidence who were the heirs at law and next of kin of the said
testator, and their respective residences,

and said Surrogate did thereupon issue a Citation in due form of law, directed to the heirs at law, and next of kin
by their respective names, stating their respective places of residence _____________________
___________________ requiring them to appear before said Surrogate at his office
in the village of Mexico in said county, on the 5th day of Jan'y A. D. 1880
to attend the Probate of said Will.

   And afterwards, to wit; on the 5th day of Jan'y, A.D., 1880 satisfactory evidence by affidavit,
was produced and presented to said Surrogate, of the due service of said Citation, in the mode prescribed by law, and on that day no one
appearing to oppose the Probate of such Will hereinafter set forth, upon this 5th
day of Jan'y, A.D. 1880 and he thereupon adjusted the said Will
valid Will of Real and Personal Estate, and the proofs thereof to be sufficient, which said LAST WILL
AND TESTAMENT and proofs are as follows, that is to say:

In the name of God amen, I Rosette Stearns of the
town of Orwell in the County of Oswego N.Y. being
now of sound mind and memory and aware of
the uncertainty of human life events, do make, or-
dain, publish and declare the following instru-
ment to be my last will and testament hereby
revoking any former will or wills by me made.
First, after liquidating what debts my remain at
the time of my decease and my funeral charges,
I give and bequeath the use of all my estates
personal and read to my dear old mother Angeline
Woolever to be used by her for her own comfort and
the comfort of my two children, Willie and Georgianna
and I confide my two children to her especial care
and instructing them under all circumstances to be
kind and obliging to their grandmother and to
listen to and heed her counsel and advise.
       At the time of my mothers decease, or as soon
after as may be, I request and direct that the
remainder of my estates personal and real be equal-
ly divided between my two children Willie and
Georgianna Stearns (share and share alike).
Likewise I make constitute and appoint Robert N.
Sawyer of Orwell, Oswego County, N.Y. to be executor of
this my last will and testament.
     In witness of the foregoing as my last will
and testament I have hereunto subscribed my
name add affixed my seal this 31st day of October
one thousand eight hundred and seventy nine.

The above written instrument was subscribed
by the said Rosette Stearns in our presence
and acknowledged by here to each of us; and she
at the same time published and declared the
above instrument so subscribed to be here last
will and testament, and we at the testators
request and in her presence and in the presence

thereof and written opposite our names our re-
