Possibly born elsewhere, or in Lee on 24 Oct 1814, or C.1815. In 1874, B. West farm was on the extreme southern edge of Lee Township, next to Canada Creek. Cause of death; embolism, Dr. Cox from Lee Valley 1880 census shows a Benjamin West (64) in Lee town with wife Eunice (60) and children George E. (31), Sidney G. (29), Harriet (24), and Sarah (West) McPherson (28), and 2 grandchildren. Obituary in the 8 Apr 1896 Pulaski Democrat: Benjamin West died three miles south of Lee Center, March 29, age 80 years. The deceased had been a resident of that town for over 50 years. In 1858 he built the Lee Center hotel, which he conducted for about four years. This property he then exchanged for that now owned by M. Knight and carried on the grocery business for two years. He then bought and moved on to the farm where he lived till his death. He has twice mar- ried. His last wife, whose maiden name was Eunice Mosier, died July 15, 1894. The following children survive: Charles E., of Oswego; George E., of Rome; Sidney G., of Lee Center; Mrs. Sarah McKeown, of Niagara Falls, and Mrs. Nettie Felshaw, of Lee Center.
