married by James Douglas, Pastor, First Congregational Church, Pulaski. witnessed by Wallace Fish & Miss Mattie Buck register of death and other records say died 5 Apr 1914, report dated 11 Jul 1914, while some other records indicate 8 Apr, 1914. Prior to research regarding his pension application, John believed he had been born 16 Dec 1844. Church records were obtained from St. Cesaire, confirming his birth to have been on 23 Nov, 1845. This nearly accounts for his age as listed on enlistment records, but even with the incorrect birth date, he would have been only 17 in Sep 1861, but listed his age as 18. In one pension record, John claims that both parents died in 1859 and that his grandfather, who he said died in 1866, signed his enlistment papers since he was uderage. That must have been his mother's father Peter Beaulieu who lived in Mexico, NY and died in 1867, if true. Jessie B. found on 1900 census. Jennie was already married to DW Howard, and they appear on the same page of the 1900 census. 1900 census says both parents from Canada, but Theodore's records says both from France in 1900, but father from Canada and mother from France in 1880 census. We now know both were from Canada. Church records of St. Cesaire, Québec show his grandparents were also his godparents, and he was christened Jean Baptiste LaRouche. |
