Date and place of birth are from a Civil War Register, and are unconfirmed. However the other items from that register appear to be accurate. His name may be Franklin B., but 1850 census has it has Benjamin F., so most likely named for Benjamin Franklin. Civil war records have Franklin B. Grave stone in Albion Centre Cemtery says born 1827. Civil War register lists one parent's name, and it appears to be Mercy Clary. He fought at Fredricksburg, Antietam, and fell at Gettysburg. There is a monument in Albion Centre Cemetery, Albion Township, Oswego County, NY, so may have been brought home from Gettysburg. In 1850 Albion, living with Luther Clary, age 70, probably his widower father, and Submit Clements, age 72, both born in MA. Submit is possibly a widowed aunt. With them is Mercy Clements, age 45, and Samuel Clements, age 5. Next door is Saumuel Clary, born in MA about 1818, with Canadian wife, Mary M. and a daughter Sarah, age 7. Census records show Luther Clary in Herkimer Co. in 1820, and in Otsego Co. in 1830 and 1840. No other records linking these folks together have yet been found. |
